HANDLING OF CASE-READY MEAT
WITH BUCKHORN'S MULTIPAC™
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Buckhorn
introduces MultiPac™, the first reusable plastic container designed exclusively to
reduce costs and increase productivity in the case-ready meat supply chain.
The reusable MultiPac features
three stacking levels on a 24" x 20" footprint for secure, reliable handling of
products from processor to distribution center to retailer. The containers stack and nest
together, maximizing cube on 48" x 40" pallets and providing flexibility for
users throughout the food supply chain. The MultiPac's three stacking levels provide
better handling efficiency for steaks, chops, and chubs. Pivoting steel bails swing in for
stacking, creating a 5.8" internal height for multiple layers of steaks and chops.
The lengthwise bails simplify unloading by allowing the top container to slide easily
along the bails for smooth handling and protection of product in the lower container. The
bails swing out and the containers stack on molded-in posts to create a 4.2" internal
height for chubs, steaks, or chops. Turned 180 degrees, the container nests with a 2"
internal height for single layers of steaks and chops.
Nested MultiPac containers
maximize storage space and reduce return shipping costs. The unique, bi-color design
allows quick identification of stacked or nested positions. Ventilated sides and bottom
maximize airflow to maintain uniform cooling. Lightweight construction and molded-in
handles on four sides assure easy lifting. Uniform design facilitates use with automated
handling systems. Molded of FDA/USDA-approved materials and designs, MultiPac resists
impact, moisture, and temperature extremes of -20°F to 120°F. Pallets and dollies are
available to facilitate handling and distribution. Replacing cardboard packaging with
reusable MultiPac reduces operating costs by decreasing product damage; eliminating
cardboard box purchase, handling, and disposal costs; optimizing ergonomics to decrease
worker injury; and cutting product handling time to improve efficiency and reduce labor
costs.
